Hi Everyone
I went along
to the New Year meeting of the Southampton
Urban Sketchers Group in St. Michael’s Church. There were over
20 people there. I was interested to find that the format was
very similar to our Adventurous Artists group: an hour and a quarter sketching
in small sketchbooks and an hour in the Tudor House Cafe afterwards.
There were people of all ages there and those to whom I spoke were most
enthusiastic.

Artists Sketching Group
Four of us were at
Dibden Golf Centre on Friday. We were made very welcome in the clubhouse
and had a warm room and a fabulous view to sketch . Here are photos
of the view, Harry & Olive Yearsley (Olive did not sketch, she
accompanied Harry), Helen Bartlett (formerly Davies) and Muriel Hiscott. Harry
sketched in pencil, Helen in watercolour, Muriel in Graphtint pencils (not
shown) and I sketched in ink, Inktense and lead pencils.
We next meet on Friday 10th February at 10.15 a.m. at the little Chapel Cafe / Charity Shop at 12 Hammonds Green, Totton,
SO40 3HG - off Water Lane .
Parking is on the street in Hammonds
Green. I am sure that we will find interesting things to sketch inside.
The cafe is run by the Youth and Families Matter charitable organisation. http://www.youthandfamiliesmatter.org.uk/the-chapel/ The
cafe has a reputation for its friendly welcome and affordable
menu. Check out the great reviews on Tripadvisor: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g2526366-d7607630-r249467115-The_Chapel-Totton_Hampshire_England.html Usual
opening hours are 9.30 - 4.00
I look forward to seeing you and your sketchbook there!
