SKETCHING ON A WILD AFTERNOON AT CALSHOT

Our friendly group of all-weather sketchers were undaunted by the wind and rain in September. 

We happily worked in the Activity Centre cafe and, as usual, sketched what took our eye.

Saturday's Expressive Colour Workshop was all about selecting, mixing and using more attractive colours than simply copying from our reference image.

We covered mixing warm & cool colours for saturated or desaturated effects; placing colours in a painting.

Two ways to select alternative colours are:

(1) using a free photo editing app or

(2) take the colours from any painting that you love.

Di had a selection of other artists' cards to choose from.

Trying to paint in a different way is a huge challenge but everyone worked hard on their paintings and made it a successful day.

We even had air conditioning thanks to Jean the Calmore Community Centre Manager .

DRAWING / PAINTING SABRINA IN AUGUST

Members welcomed the opportunity to paint a posed figure from life at the August meeting. 

Sabrina was a superb model. She gave us three different poses and was surprised how physically tiring it was to hold the positions for 20 minutes at a time. We are so grateful to her and to Helen for making it possible.

Helen and helpers provided the refreshments as well. It was an evening with a difference and so enjoyable!
