ADVENTUROUS ARTISTS OUT AND ABOUT AGAIN
Some members have braved the virus and have been sketching with suitable social distancing.
In September they visited The Rockingham Arms and Canada Common.
Six of us enjoyed a beautiful afternoon sketching at Canada Common. So lucky with the weather and the ponies grazing to enhance the scene. The popular Rockingham Arms pub was perfect for a break and a chat afterwards.

Adventurous Artists at Dobbie's
Dobbie's
Garden Centre provided lots of colourful inspiration for our sketching group on Friday morning. It was warm and sunny in the cafe, out of the wind - so relaxing after a turbulent week.
The
trip to the Affordable Art Show had to be cancelled due to the risk of coronavirus infection. The Annual General Meeting on 25th March will be held unless
advice from the government
changes.
FEBRUARY DEMONSTRATION
SEASCAPE IN MIXED MEDIA
Despite wintry weather, near capacity TAS members turned up
to Hill Head artist Elaine Reed's demonstration "Seascape in Mixed
Media" With inspirational features at her doorstep- sky, sea, sandy/pebble
beach - Elaine showed, besides availability of propriety texture mediums, the
choice of "sedimentary" (grainy-effect-mixed colours) and suitable
paper surfaces - smooth NOT /rough - you can achieve painterly textures. So
whatever type of painting you intend creating why not try some of Elaine's
proven techniques?

MEMBERS FEBRUARY WORKSHOP
This was a "Paint - Together" workshop for Members. As Ann says "Storm Dennis didn't stop the arty crowd . We had a fun day with painting well in progress. Such lovely people with such a sense of humour - what more could you want on a wet day!
JANUARY MEETING
THE ART OF THE SELF- CRITIQUE
We had a very inspiring evening when Di introduced us to the
technique of self -criticising our own work. She showed us how a picture is
built up of elements such as line, colour and tone which with properties like proportion
and balance make a picture. This all promoted a lively discussion among members
and ended in critiques of paintings that had been brought along for the
evening. We'd like to thank Di for making us do some serious thinking about our
art.
