HARBOURS SATURDAY WORKSHOP WITH GAIL IN JULY

 

A huge thank you to Gail Morris for presenting our Harbour workshop in July. Your guidance on composition and thumbnail sketches enabled everyone to produce excellent work.

PASTELS WITH SUE KERRIGAN HARRIS IN JUNE

 

Sue Kerrigan Harris gave an enjoyable and informative demonstration of the use of soft pastel on Pastelmat paper.

The best-known type of soft pastels are the sticks that look rather like chalks. The sticks are stroked onto the paper, releasing the coloured dust.

Sue also applied colour in some areas with pastel pencils ...

... sponge tools ...

and colour shapers.

She is an expert in creating the illusion of soft fur and the iris of an eye.

The kitten's face was carefully built up to create a detailed realistic portrait.

SKETCHING AT CALSHOT IN JUNE

Our artists were not to be beaten by the blustery wind at Calshot!

Calshot Castle is a fort, built to defend England against invasion after King Henry VIII removed England from the control of the Roman Catholic Church.

It was an interesting architectural challenge.

Sailboarders had a challenge of a different sort - gusts of wind!

There were plenty of other subjects to sketch.

Meeting in the cafe bar at the Activities Centre

was an enjoyable end to the afternoon.

ART AFTERNOON IN JUNE

Our friendly afternoon meetings are a great opportunity for us to share ideas and try new materials and techniques. So glad that Pat and Linda could join us this time.

PAINTING IN MINIATURE AT OUR MAY MEETING

Gail organised a fun working evening inspired by the Delft hand painted ceramic tiles in May.

Our results were stunning!

 

 

 

Thanks to artist Gail for choosing the theme and arranging everything and to artist & photographer Tina who took our group photo at the end. We really enjoyed it!!
