PETLAKE ALPACAS UN JULY

What a fabulous day for TAS Adventurous Artists to go sketching. We were welcomed by the lovely owner, Sue, at Petlake Alpacas.

We walked between paddocks with the cutest baby Cria, towards the donkeys in the woodland, into a cool tree shaded area.

The alpacas were so curious and we soon made friends. The 5 day old Cria stole our hearts....soooo cute.

Animals are not easy to sketch, but everyone recorded the movement and character of these wonderful animals brilliantly. Well done all.

This unique little gem is just outside Totton towards Cadnam and is well worth a visit, for all ages. They offer a range of activities and sell spun yarn and fleece in their shop, amongst other things:

PASTELS WITH SUE KERRIGAN HARRIS IN JUNE

Sue Kerrigan Harris gave an enjoyable and informative demonstration of the use of soft pastel on Pastelmat paper.

The best-known type of soft pastels are the sticks that look rather like chalks. The sticks are stroked onto the paper, releasing the coloured dust.

Sue also applied colour in some areas with pastel pencils ...

... sponge tools ...

and colour shapers.

She is an expert in creating the illusion of soft fur and the iris of an eye.

The kitten's face was carefully built up to create a detailed realistic portrait.

Check out Sue's Youtube Channel and her website: https://skhportraits.co.uk/ for more information.
