ADVENTUROUS ARTISTS AT KING JOHN'S HOUSE, ROMSEY
It was a beautiful windless morning
when we gathered to sketch gardens and architecture at King John's. The gardens
were full of flowers - a credit to the volunteers who look after them. We
each found a seat and a subject and
spent a pleasant hour or so sketching. This time some of us tried using
different media from usual and experimented with inks ( soluble or waterproof), coloured pencils and
water-soluble crayons. The many different colours of the flowers in the gardens
and the beautiful variation in stone and brick of the buildings lent themselves
to such treatments. The morning ended with refreshments in the garden sitting
in the sun.
